Day 6 Final Day at Oishi Koi FarmPosted by Drew Simons in Untagged |
This was my last day at Oishi koi Farm and the end of a very enjoyable trip. After netting a pond of high quality Nisai the following koi were purchased. Excellent mix of Koi all with good body shape and skin.

It was a short walk past the river to the Tosai Houses and the Typhoon had arrived and with 4 days of heavy rain the river had risen by over 1 meter. Occasioanlly this river can burst the banks and possibly washing away some of the small fry ponds.

You can see Oishi's Tosai houses on the far right of the left hand picture. No panic yet as at least another meter to rise.

These fry ponds are the most vulnerable but with good drainage there should be no problem.
The final purchase of the day was a superb Sanke I first saw in January but was too expensive at that time , to find the Koi still for sale was a surprise, this koi was being kept in one of Oishi's new indoor concrete ponds to grow during the summer this pond holds 200 tonnes of water . Nobutoki knew i liked this Koi and after a chat with President Masaaki Oishi this koi was offered to me at a much reduced price. And the deal was done!
