In this section we look at ways to treat common Koi ailments. There are many ways to treat bacterial infections in koi the following are my reccomendations. Click on the pictures to expand them
Pic 1
The bacterial infection on this customers koi was caused by unstable water conditions. The koi was moved to a mature quarantine system. The tank was heavily oxygenated and heated to 25c. The koi was injected with antibiotics and acriflavin was added to the water. A trickle was set up to change 15% of the water daily, during its treatment.

After two days the koi was injected again but with 25% less antibiotics. The koi was now fed with Shokoi food and Miracle Animal suppliment. Shokoi was chosen because of its probiotic properties, the Miracle Animal because of its natural plant extract.

After another two days the infection had reduced dramatically. No more injections were needed. It was now being fed four times a day.

After another 4 days the infection had healed completely. If an infection is caught early the success rate is very high. Observation of Koi and water stability is the best way to prevent koi problems.

.................................................
The following koi has picked up a very bad mouth infection, this is a very commom and is caused by bad water conditions. It is easy to treat if caught early but as in some cases infections are only noticed when the koi stops feeding by then it is usually too late!
